TabNotes is committed to protecting your privacy. This privacy policy explains how our browser extension handles data.

TabNotes does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data. All notes and user preferences are stored locally in your browser only.

What Data is Stored Locally

TabNotes stores the following data in your browser's local storage:

Your notes

Text content you write, tied to specific website URLs

User preferences

Theme settings, auto-save preferences, timer configurations

Timer data

Active timer sessions for productivity features

Formatting preferences

Your preferred text formatting options

What Data We DO NOT Collect

How Data is Used

The locally stored data is used exclusively to:

Data Storage Location

✓Local only: All data remains on your device

✓No cloud storage: Nothing is sent to external servers

✓Offline functionality: Works completely offline

Permission Usage

TabNotes requests the following permissions for legitimate functionality:

Purpose: Save notes and preferences locally in your browser

Scope: Browser local storage only

Note: Data never leaves your device

tabs

Purpose: Get the current tab's URL to organize notes by website

Scope: Tab metadata only (URL, title)

Note: Cannot read or modify webpage content

activeTab

Purpose: Identify which tab you're taking notes for

Scope: Current active tab information only

Note: Only when you click the extension icon

notifications

Purpose: Show alerts when productivity timers complete

Scope: Timer completion notifications only

Note: Can be disabled in browser settings

host permissions (<all_urls>)

Purpose: Associate notes with any website you visit

Scope: URL identification for note organization

Note: Does not modify or read webpage content

Third-Party Data Sharing

TabNotes does not share any data with third parties.

There are no:
